Showing up for others

☀️ Hello lovely people! Ready for the last week of October? Let’s do this.
This week I’m exploring the concept of social accountability (TLDR: signing up for the gym with a friend increases your chances of success), launching our premium subscription, and reminding you of a few events coming up!
Thank you to those who attended our Dare to Connect gathering last week at The Conduit. In between gold star stickers, we had a lovely discussion around the need for awareness and accountability around connection (inspiring today’s newsletter).

SHOWING UP FOR OTHERS > SHOWING UP FOR OURSELVES
I got into road cycling a few years ago while trying to impress my husband. I had the whole outfit going on, but struggled with the tappity-tap shoes and smacked myself against the floor multiple times per ride. I was 100% looks and 0% talent. Needless to say, the novelty of going out for a ride together subsided quickly.
This is how I thought I looked at the park. Hint: I did not.
I found myself owning a pile of cycling equipment I needed to depreciate and no incentive whatsoever to go out on the streets by myself, let alone have my husband babysit me.
One day, I met a girl who mentioned she was just about to start cycling at the same place my husband and I went to. This was my chance. I suggested we go out together for a ride—how about 6am on Thursday morning?
